A Different Surface for Everyday Prep
Most cutting boards are wood or plastic. A titanium cutting board is a different kind of surface — non-porous, easy to clean, and built to last. It doesn't require oiling like wood, and it doesn't develop the same kind of surface grooving as plastic.
The non-porous surface means food liquids don't soak into the material. That makes cleaning straightforward — wash with warm water and dish soap, and the board is ready for the next use. For everyday chopping, slicing, and food preparation, it's a low-maintenance alternative to traditional boards.
Honest Material Positioning
Every cutting-board material has trade-offs. Wood can be more forgiving on knife edges. Plastic can be inexpensive and light. Titanium can provide a durable, non-porous, low-maintenance surface — but it is not the best choice for everyone. If you prioritise knife-edge gentleness above all else, wood may be a better fit. If you prioritise a non-porous, easy-to-clean surface, titanium is worth considering.
How Does Titanium Affect Your Knives?
Any cutting surface can contribute to edge wear over time. A hard metal surface like titanium can feel less forgiving to knife edges than softer materials such as wood or certain plastic and rubber boards. This doesn't mean titanium will rapidly destroy your knives — but it does mean the cutting feel is different.
How much your knives are affected depends on several factors: the blade steel, edge geometry, cutting force, chopping technique, board surface finish, and frequency of use. A light, controlled cutting motion puts less stress on the edge than heavy, forceful chopping.
We recommend regular honing and sharpening appropriate to your knife, and controlled cutting rather than striking the surface excessively hard. If you use heavy cleaver chopping or bone cutting as your primary technique, a softer board material may be more suitable.
What We Don't Claim
We do not claim that titanium cutting boards will never dull your knives, that they are "knife-safe" in an absolute sense, or that they protect knife edges better than other materials. Any cutting board contributes to edge wear over time — the question is how much, and that depends on how you cut.
Why a Non-Porous Surface Matters
A non-porous surface means liquid doesn't soak into the board material. Food juices, water, and cleaning liquids stay on the surface, where they can be wiped or rinsed away. The board doesn't require the oiling that wood does to prevent cracking and moisture absorption.
Because the surface doesn't absorb liquids, odours may be easier to remove. Garlic, onion, fish, and spices can leave strong smells on porous surfaces — on a non-porous titanium surface, washing with warm water and dish soap is typically enough to remove them.
The same principle applies to stains. Beetroot, turmeric, berries, and tomatoes can stain porous materials. A non-porous titanium surface is resistant to absorbing food stains — though it's still best to rinse promptly after preparing strongly coloured foods.
Raw Meat & Fish
The board is suitable for preparing raw meat and fish. Wash thoroughly with warm water and dish soap immediately after use. Follow normal food-safety practices — the non-porous surface does not replace proper hygiene.
Cross-Contamination
Wash the board between preparing raw meat, fish, vegetables, and ready-to-eat foods. If you regularly prepare raw protein and produce simultaneously, consider using separate boards — the multi-size range or a Build Your Set bundle can support this.

Titanium or Wood Cutting Board?
Each material has its strengths. Wood is generally more forgiving on knife edges; titanium is non-porous and lower-maintenance.
| Titanium | Wood | |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Porosity | Non-porous — does not absorb liquid | Porous — absorbs moisture |
| Knife Feel | Harder surface, less forgiving | Generally more forgiving on knife edges |
| Maintenance | No oiling required | Requires periodic oiling |
| Moisture Absorption | Does not absorb | Can absorb and warp if not maintained |
| Odour Absorption | Resistant — easy to clean | Can absorb odours over time |
| Dishwasher | Dishwasher-safe | Generally not dishwasher-safe |
| Weight | Solid and substantial | Varies by wood type and thickness |
| Surface Wear | Resists deep grooving | Develops cut marks that can be sanded |
| Longevity | Durable, no coating to wear off | Long-lasting with proper care |
Titanium or Plastic Cutting Board?
Plastic is light and inexpensive; titanium is durable and non-porous. Each has its place in a kitchen.
| Titanium | Plastic | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Titanium — metal surface | Plastic — polymer surface |
| Surface Grooving | Resists deep grooving | Develops cut grooves over time |
| Moisture Absorption | Non-porous — does not absorb | Generally non-porous but can stain |
| Dishwasher | Dishwasher-safe | Often dishwasher-safe |
| Weight | Solid and substantial | Light and inexpensive |
| Maintenance | No conditioning needed | No conditioning needed |
| Replacement Cycle | Built for long-term use | Typically replaced more frequently |
| Surface Wear | Cosmetic marks may occur | Grooves can harbour residue if not cleaned |
Prep. Cook. Serve.
The cutting board is where cooking begins. Prep your ingredients on titanium, then move straight into the Titan cookware that suits the meal — a Frying Pan for searing, a Wok for stir-fries, or a Sauté Pan for sauces and one-pan dinners.
Using the same material across prep and cookware is a matter of brand consistency and personal preference — not a performance claim. The board and the pans each do their own job.

Easy Everyday Cleaning
Everyday Cleaning
Wash with warm water and dish soap using a soft sponge or cloth. Rinse and dry. The non-porous surface doesn't absorb food liquids, so cleaning is straightforward.
Dishwasher
The board is dishwasher-safe. If the board has any anti-slip components, verify they are also dishwasher-safe before washing. Hand-washing is also fine.
Stuck Residue
For stuck-on food, soak in warm water for a few minutes, then scrub with a sponge. Abrasive sponges are safe — there is no coating to damage.
Sanitising
Wash thoroughly after preparing raw meat or fish. Follow normal food-safety practices. Do not pour boiling water over the board unless manufacturer instructions allow it.
Surface Marks
Metal cutting boards can develop cosmetic marks from knife contact. This is normal wear, not a defect. The surface remains functional even with cosmetic marks.
Board Stability
Use on a clean, dry countertop. If the board does not have an anti-slip feature, place a damp kitchen towel or suitable non-slip mat beneath it for stability.
Countertop Protection
A bare metal board can scratch delicate countertops such as glass, stone, or quartz. If your countertop is sensitive, place a protective layer beneath the board.
Edge & Corner Care
Handle with care. If the edges or corners are sharp, contact us for guidance. Do not use the board if edges become damaged.
Storage
The slim profile makes the board easy to store. Store flat or on its edge in a rack. If stacking with other boards, a soft cloth between them prevents cosmetic marking.
