Titanium cookware is made from titanium — a metal known for its strength, corrosion resistance and relatively light weight. Unlike conventional non-stick pans, which rely on a synthetic coating (typically PTFE) applied over an aluminium or steel base, uncoated titanium cookware has no sprayed coating. The cooking surface is the titanium metal itself.
This means there is no coating to scratch, wear off, or degrade over time. The pan performs the same way throughout its life because the cooking surface is a solid metal, not a chemical layer. Titan Cookwares uses hand-hammered titanium construction across its frying pans, woks, sauté pans and crepe pans.
Titanium cookware offers a different approach to the kitchen. Because the cooking surface is uncoated titanium, there is no PFAS, PTFE or PFOA coating to worry about. The surface does not depend on a chemical layer for its performance — it is the metal itself.
Titanium is also known for its durability and corrosion resistance. It does not react with acidic foods like tomato or citrus, and it can handle metal utensils without damaging a coating. For cooks who are tired of replacing non-stick pans every few years as the coating wears off, titanium offers a longer-term alternative — backed by a 25-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
It is worth noting that titanium cookware cooks differently from coated non-stick. Heat management and a small amount of oil or fat are part of the technique. Once you are used to it, the surface performs reliably and consistently. For a deeper comparison, read our complete titanium cookware material guide.
The right pan depends on how you cook. A titanium frying pan is the most versatile option — suitable for everyday searing, frying eggs, sautéing vegetables and preparing breakfast. A titanium wok with a flat base is designed for stir-frying, tossing ingredients at high heat, and cooking dishes that benefit from high walls. A titanium sauté pan offers straighter sides and more usable depth, making it well-suited to sauces, family-sized meals and recipes that require liquid reduction.
A titanium crepe pan has a very low profile, which makes it easier to flip pancakes, crepes and flatbreads. And a titanium cutting board provides a durable, non-reactive surface for food preparation. You can start with a single piece or combine several into a set that covers the meals you make most often.
If you cook a bit of everything — eggs, vegetables, searing, one-pan meals — start with the frying pan. It is the most versatile piece and the one most cooks use daily. If you regularly cook stir-fries, noodles, or dishes that need high walls and high heat, add the wok. If you make sauces, braise, or cook for a family, the sauté pan adds the depth you need.
For breakfast cooking — crepes, pancakes, omelettes — the crepe pan's low profile makes flipping and sliding easier. Not sure where to start? Our guide on which titanium pan is right for you walks through the decision, or you can build your own set to cover multiple cooking styles at once.
Both titanium and stainless steel are durable, coating-free metals — but they behave differently in the kitchen. Titanium is lighter, does not react with acidic foods, and does not require seasoning. Stainless steel is heavier, conducts heat differently (often with an aluminium or copper core), and can be more responsive to temperature changes.
Titanium's main advantage is its inert, coating-free surface that never degrades. Stainless steel's main advantage is heat responsiveness and widespread familiarity. For a full comparison, see our guide on titanium vs stainless steel cookware.
Uncoated titanium is not "non-stick" in the way a PTFE-coated pan is. Food release depends on proper preheating and a small amount of oil or fat. When the pan is hot enough and the surface is lightly oiled, proteins release naturally as they form a crust — this is the same principle as cooking on stainless steel or carbon steel.
The advantage is that the surface never changes: there is no coating to wear off, so the food release behaviour you experience on day one is the same behaviour you get after years of use. Learn the technique in our guide on how to prevent food sticking to titanium and our guide on how to cook with titanium cookware.
Caring for titanium cookware is straightforward. Because there is no coating, you can use metal utensils, scrub with abrasive sponges, and even use the dishwasher (though hand-washing is recommended to keep the surface looking its best). Burnt-on food can be removed with a paste of baking soda and water, or by simmering water in the pan.
Titanium can develop a patina or colour changes from heat and oil — this is normal and does not affect performance. For full care instructions, see our guide on how to clean titanium cookware.
Yes. Titanium is biocompatible and inert — it is used in medical implants. Uncoated titanium cookware does not contain PFAS, PTFE, or PFOA. Read more in our guide on whether titanium cookware is safe.
It depends on the construction. Pure titanium is not magnetic, so induction compatibility depends on whether the pan has a magnetic base layer. Check the specifications on each product page for cooktop compatibility.
Yes. Because the cooking surface is solid titanium with no coating, metal utensils will not damage the surface the way they would on a PTFE-coated pan.
With proper care, titanium cookware can last a lifetime. There is no coating to wear off, which is the primary reason conventional non-stick pans need replacing. Titan Cookwares backs its products with a 25-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
